"I have my daughter, Laura, to thank
for the birth of the Torchettes, a collection of doll-like lampwork bead creations.
She inspired me with her ideas during an impromptu mother-daughter weekend
of clay character making.
"Having been a fashion designer
for more than 20 years, I find it especially rewarding to be able to integrate
my fashion design skills into my lampwork beadmaking. My personal favorite
of this young collection is Bik-Ha Torchette, shown at left, with a traditional
Chinese red dress (chon-psam). It is a tribute to my beloved mother, who encouraged
me to follow my dreams always."
